Probing mass accretion rate in substellar population belonging to star-forming regions can help us test whether they form like scaled-down versions of low-mass stars or form from dynamical ejection from stellar embryos. Here we propose medium-resolution spectroscopy [R=750, with SpeX] of substellar candidates targeting the IR Paschen Beta line as a tracer of accretion. The targets selected belong to young, nearby star forming region, that is the most active core of Rho Ophiuchi complex. Our targets comprise of spectral type from ~M6.25 to M8.25 and the mass range between 0.02 and 0.03 Ms. Investigation of accretion properties in substellar range in a young star forming region will provide stronger contraint on age dependence of accretion rate and mass of very low mass to substellar mass regime.
