JWST NIRSpec observations of nearby debris disks and have discovered fluorescent emission from large masses of previously undetected CO gas for the first time. We propose to search for fluorescent emission from hot CO around 4 debris disks using iSHELL in the M-band setting to understand the frequency of massive CO reservoirs close to the system's host star. We request 8 hours of 2024A IRTF iSHELL time to observe four debris disks with SNR larger than 20 at a R=60,000 to search for fluorescent CO emission. One of the graduate students on our team has recently published a paper describing the observing strategy, instrument settings and data reduction that we plan to employ for follow-up on our recent successful JWST NIRSPEC measurements (Worthen et al. 2024).
