We propose a 1/4-night SpeX SXD+LXD study of the ~10 Myr old HD148657 [A1V] system. The star's strong Spitzer/IRS 6-8 um excess is a good match for the unusual SpeX + BASS spectrophotometry we found for the newly resolved HD36546 A1V disk [Currie+2017, Lisse+2017], and the HD131488 and HD121191 T-RECS/SpeX A-star spectrophotometry of Melis+2013. With minimal flux excesses at 10-12 um in the usual silicate bands but apparent maxima in the 6-8 um PAH/HAC/SiC region, this star will become the best-studied candidate for a new class of systems producing abundant hot carbonaceous dust due to the assembly of carbon planets.
