# # Program information file # PROGRAM_ID 2022A098 PROGRAM_TITLE IRTF SpeX Time Domain Observations of the RW Aurigae A Classical TTauri 'Planet Eating' System PROGRAM_INV1 Carey Lisse PROGRAM_INV2 Mike Sitko PROGRAM_INV3 Hans Moritz Gunther PROGRAM_INV4 Scott Wolk PROGRAM_INV5 PROGRAM_SCICAT stellar PROGRAM_ABSTRACT_BEG Continued monitoring of the highly variable CTTS RWAurA is requested. 2018/2019 measurements verified a huge increase in HeI/FeII emission line strength since 2006, with new bifurcated lines indicative of strong jet outflow produced by excess material from the Chandra 'planet-eating event' of 2014-2016. SpeX has also detected marked thermal emission variability from the system's asymmetric, puffed-up accretion disk. By 02Feb2021 the bifurcated jet lines disappeared as the system relaxed back to 'normal'. It is critical that this developing, ~3 Myr old solar system be continually monitored every 6 months, in order to learn how planetsimals form, migrate and accrete. PROGRAM_ABSTRACT_END
