DART will reach the Didymos-Dimorphos system on 26 September 2022 UT, and will impact Dimorphos at 23:14 UT, changing its orbital period around Didymos through momentum transfer. We propose near-infrared spectroscopy and photometric color measurements of the Didymos-Dimorphos system before and after impact to better constrain the spectral properties of these objects. A more precise understanding of the surface composition of this system could improve our analysis and interpretation of the DART impact experiment, and comparison of spectral properties pre- and post- impact might reveal how weathered asteroid surfaces are refreshed through impact processes.
