PROGRAM_ABSTRACT_BEG
We propose to address three science questions: 1] Which cloud layers are responsible for the dramatic change in appearance in Jupiter's North Equatorial Belt [NEB] in the past 3 years; 2] what is the gas composition and cloud structure of Jupiter in regions to be observed by JWST; and 3] along the ground-track of the Juno microwave radiometer [MWR]? We plan to use iSHELL to measure gaseous H2O, NH3, and water clouds in the NEB, the northern hemisphere, high Southern latitudes, and the Great Red Spot. One iSHELL wavelength setting will cover Jupiter's entire 5-micron window.
