January 2003

   + The USPIIi install for guidedog kept producing SCSI disk errors.
     Someday leaving it unable to boot. After a few day of this agony,
     I put the SPARC 5/64 back on the summit. The USPIIi was brought
     down to hilo were is has be working flawlessly.

   + now that user are loggin into bigdog&guidedog as guest user (rather
     that using the bigdog or guidedog user accounts), there problems 
     related to the XUI message queues. They are left behind if the
     XUI was not exited properly. Someone need to become root and 
     clear the queues. Make a script /usr/sbin/delete_xui_msgq

   + Also changed the msgq definition so that the xui message queue
     has a larger pool to draw from (3 to 5).

Apr 2003

   + Trouble log error concern spex and message queue system error.
     Re-compiled spex's IC, XUI for version 0211.

Jun 2003

   + Added changes for Charles AutoFocus tool.
   + New version v2003.06 installed on 6/24.

Aug 2003

   + Took out the shutter widget and disabled the shutter command.
     Per Rayner:

		1) Remove the shutter 'open' and 'close' options in the
		Cal Box Dialog window. The shutter is no longer there 
		and clicking on it hangs the xui (killic and startic to
		restart). Last night's observers lost some time because
		of this bug. Needs to be changed in both bigdog and guidedog.

      version is still v2003.06 installed on 8/24.

Sept 2003

   The Aug 2003 fixed uas unnecessary because the shutter used
   the rpc3. No shutter just toggle an unused outlet on the hotdog rpc3
   unit. After much work, it was discovered the IRTF's rpc3 with firmware
   3.05 are resetting every 10 minutes or so. We evenutally replace hotdog
   with hotdog2 (power5), an rpc3 with version 5.00 firmware.
   Needed to add longer sleeps to the rpc3monitor program to for the
   rpc3 5.00 firmware. And added hotdog_debug variable to littledog's 
   shared memory.
   version is still v2003.06 installed on 9/10.

todo: 

   + When bigdog does a stop on long intergration, the next
     GO dosen't do anything and no error is indicated.

   + Fix beam switch and obj/sky bug (sometime images
     gets sent to wrong buffer ).

   + remove the local display.

   + guidedog

      When quiting guidedog, put the mirror in & blank the osf.

   + Summit
      - During guide, the LoadPat and Loadtable is always true
        since the copy (mSpl) used to check to load, but after
        the load, the shared memory Spl is set to FALSE. mSpl
        is copied just before the start of the GO, and guide
        is one continuous GO.

      - Movie mode: Frame timestamp data files update & header.
      - GPS: full support for GPS time (2 words).
      - GPS: Check lock status from VME bus?
      - GPS: Change to UTC timecode.

   + GuideDog upgrade to USPIIi CPU
      - update sharc driver to solaris 7/USPIIi.
      - Test using on lab DSPs.

   + Lab system
      - test spex using 5.2. (New source tree).
