Thanks for visiting Hilo and taking the time to present the each project. I enjoy the presentations. How many controllers? During the presentation various numbers were mentioned (2 to 4). SpeX need 2. Icshell needs 2. A lab/spare/development system is needed (1). That makes 5. A future version for nsfcam2/mirsi would be nice. (Another plus for stargraphs as the IRTF could replicate at system in-house). Ishell doesn't have a dichroic port. This was very useful for nsfcam and spex. Guiding on object in the slit is important for spex and cshell/ishell. Current we have a very slow system (the TCS3) guiding update are only occurring at periods of many seconds. The IRTF should think about better methods. Mirrors in the instrument, faster secondary, etc. Something that that be updated at 20Hz could make a big difference. /home/s2/public_html and /home/ishell/public_html currently exist on the IRTF systems. Electronic copies of the presentation and some form of the proposal (viewable by all) could be posted there. Ishell: Decal advice, a admin to generate a single decal for the entire ishell project and reference all purchase on this single decal. Will save us lots of paper work, vs generating dozens of decals on everything you buy. Also add the account in the filemaker databases (mako) and have all purchases start by created a filemaker purchase record. -- /-----------------------------------------------------------------------\ | Tony Denault | Email: denault@irtf.ifa.hawaii.edu | | Institute for Astronomy | Phone: (808) 932-2378 | | 640 North Aohoku Place | Fax: (808) 933-0737 | | Hilo, Hawaii 96720-2700 | | \-----------------------------------------------------------------------/
