Fourth Quarter 2000

SpeX worked smoothly during the 43 nights of scheduled time during this quarter. The only time lost was that due to weather. Work this quarter included further refinements to the user interface, first observing tests with the fast readout occultation mode, and the first remote observing sessions with SpeX. The other major activity was the ongoing development of the spectral extraction program 'Spextool'. A downloadable version Spextool for automatic flatfielding, wavelength calibration and spectral extraction of both cross-dispersed modes was posted to the the IRTF webpage during December.
