VII WORKSHOP ON CATASTROPHIC DISRUPTION
IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM (CD07)

TRAVEL

The easiest way to reach Alicante from abroad is by plane. Alicante airport ("El Altet") is a busy airport, with a bunch of low-cost airlines offering service to many cities in Europe. Frequent flights from/to Madrid and Barcelona are available every day for passengers coming from outside Europe. Taxis from the airport will take you to the Hotel Spa Porta Maris for about 15 Euros. A bus also runs from/to the airport to downtown, a 10 minute walk from the workshop hotel. As usual, the sooner you book your flights, the cheaper.

Regular comfortable trains also travel to Alicante from Madrid and Barcelona. (http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/ingles.html)

A car is not really necessary for a one-week stay in Alicante, but if you like to drive, Alicante is connected by highway to the rest of Spain and Europe. You can easily rent a car at the airport or even in downtown. The Spanish driving (and parking) style and traffic density is comparable to (that is, not worse than) that of Northern Italy or Southern France.
