 Tabarca Island

SOCIAL EVENTS

Monday 25th, 19:00 to 22:00: Welcoming reception at Hotel Spa Porta Maris. In order to properly organize this event, please let us know if your arrival time will allow you to participate. We understand that this information may not be available until you finalize your travel plans. However, we would greatly appreciate any information you can provide about your arrival in Alicante by the end of May.

Wednesday 27th, 13:30: Trip to Tabarca Island by an absolutely safe hydrofoil ship (40 minute sailing) and lunch in a typical restaurant, featuring "Caldero", a local specialty based on a local fish and a very good paella. The afternoon is free, allowing the possibility to go back to Alicante or to spend the entire afternoon on the Island. Tabarca Island is a natural reserve and it has many small beaches for sunbathing (take care, as the "Tabarca Sun" is known for its special tanning power!), meditation and relaxation, swimming and snorkeling. Fishing is forbidden along much of its coastline. THIS TRIP IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Please let us know if you plan to participate in the "Social events grid" on the meeting registration form. Your response on this form is not binding, but helps give us an idea of the number of people interested in this trip. We will need to have a final head count of people wanting to participate in this event by the end of May.

Thursday 28th, 21:30: Conference dinner at a local restaurant. Please let us know if you plan to participate in the "Social events grid" on the registration form. Your response is not binding, but provides an idea of the number of interested people. Again, we will need you to make up your mind by the end of May.

On Tuesday 26th or Friday 29th, around 20:00, at the downtown University Centre (a 10 minute walk from the Hotel), we would like to organize an informative talk about fragmentation phenomena or collisions in general, space missions to asteroids, or any other topics related to the CD07 workshop. The speaker should be one of the non-local participants at the workshop, and the talk should be given in Spanish (or Spanglish, at least...). VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED. Please let us know if you wish to help out. In return, the speaker will receive an exemption from paying the CD07 registration fee.

We hope we may offer all social events free of charge, once we have confirmation of funding from all our sponsors. In particular, the Tabarca Island trip and lunch will be available to any Workshop participant (including guests) at a fixed rate that, in the worst case, will not exceed 50 Euros per person (payable on site).

In order to properly program and set up the CD07 social events, please CONFIRM your attendance to the following events. You can easily do so by fulfilling the following form with the number of people who MEAN to attend and send it to cd07@ua.es (subject: CD07 social events) NOT LATER THAN MONDAY, the 11th of JUNE.
