Laura Flagg IR spectra of hot Jupiter hosts can contain spectral signals directly from the planets themselves. For young exoplanets, this signal could potentially be significantly brighter than that of planets around main sequence stars depending on the formation mechanism of the exoplanet. We are investigating this possibility for the hot Jupiter around CI Tau in hopes of being able to put observational constraints on its formation. We also consider how this technique could be used at longer wavelengths where the contrast ratio would be more favorable.
